Web Links

Here are some of my favourite links about 3D-Graphics and Rendering:
Free 3D Rendering Software

The Persistence of Vision Raytracer is a high quality, totally free tool for creating stunning 3D graphics. It is available in official versions for all versions of Windows, for DOS, the Macintosh, i86 Linux, SunOS, and Amiga. The source code is available for those wanting to do their own ports.

Sophisticated Global Illumination standalone rendering engine, free for personal use and available for Windows (Win32). A Linux version should be coming soon.

Photorealistic scenery rendering software. Terragen is a work-in-progress scenery generator for Windows. At this stage of its development, Terragen is free for personal non-commercial use.

Free 3D Resources

3D Café
The Ultimate Resource for Computer Graphic Artists, Web Developers, CAD Architects, and Scientific Visualization. Thumbnailed 3D-Models and Textures in various formats, Galleries, Tutorials, Advertisement, VIP-Lounge.

Raytracing News
Raytracing News Guide "Light Makes Right" compiled by Eric Haines.
Volume 14, Number 1 has a short article about WinOSi written by Phil Dutre.

Technical Documentation

Global Illumination Compendium
The Concise Guide to Global Illumination Algorithms. An effort to bring together most of the useful formulas and equations for global illumination algorithms in computer graphics. This site has a link to WinOSi!

Henrik W. Jensen
Research Associate, Stanford University: Articles about global illumination, photon mapping. Has many sample images.

Paul Bourke
Introductions, formulas, algorithms and sample images about Rendering & Geometry.

Hugo Elias
"The good-looking textured light-sourced bouncy fun smart and stretchy page". Many very good tutorials about computer graphics (programming).

The Graphics File Formats Page
3D Geometry Specifications, Moving Image Resources.

Real-Time Raytracing

Real-Time-Raytracer with source, written by Thomas Ludwig, Tutorial about Real-Time-Raytracing.

RaVi-Demo Mod "SpinRaVi"
Philip Rogers II aka Spinflip has created a wonderful modification of my original RaVi-Demo, with new impressive demo-sets.

Ingo Wald, OpenRT
Many documents about a raytracing project capable of rendering many thousands of triangles in real-time using highly optimized coherent raytracing on multiple SSE-processors.

WinOSi related sites

Erik Robson
The directory contains some tests (vmd and jpg files), 2 vmd "templates" that others may or may not find useful, the little WinOSi logo scene which was made by Erik Robson (rendered in WinOSi).

Jotero WinOSi Forum
Very interesting german site containing a WinOSi discussion group.
